Pauline Family in East African Delegation
21st Aug 2012 On 20 August 2012, the Daughters of St. Paul (Kenya), together with the three Brothers of the Society of St. Paul from Congo had a joyful celebration of the feast of the Pauline family. They started with the Eucharistic celebration, and a solemn adoration, with its theme: "The Pauline Family a Story to Live". During the Eucharistic celebration, the celebrant emphasised on the love for our community, living together in love as one family, and this is extended to the whole congregation, to the whole Pauline Family. It is in living together with Christ as the centre, that we become his witnesses.

I am happy to be here and I enjoy everything. I have learnt many things. In the apostolate I learnt how to print books. In class, we studied Vocation in the Bible, Good Manners, Pauline Prayers, Pauline life and mission. I appreciate very much each topic and try to learn from them. I have learnt how to pray daily. I also learnt, to say excuse me, and please, which we are not used to saying. I learnt how to associate with my companions and the sisters from different countries and talked to them and learnt from them, because I was not used to speaking to many people. Christine Nakulia, South Sudan
I started off from home to join the "Come and See" programme of the Daughters of St. Paul. I was happy to come and observe how they live, pray and work. I learnt to love the Pauline prayer life and mission. Daily morning prayers, Mass, and an hour of adoration, gave me the chance to open to God, renew and build my relationship with him, together with my co-aspirants. I consider this programme as God's greatest gift having my companions from Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda; then, there are the pre-novices, novices and the sisters who have come from different parts of the world. Through the apostolate of Social Communication, I believe I will be able to reach out to more people throughout the world, and help them learn more about God. Now, I feel I have acquired new family members. Deborah Lupenga, Malawi
I am happy to be in the convent of the Daughters of St. Paul for the "Come and See" programme. In these past two months I have learnt many things in class, like Pauline Prayers, community life, accepting myself and others; living as one family of God. I enjoyed doing the apostolate working in the audio visuals department, printing department, and the kitchen. Sharing life experience with one another in the group and sisters who accompany us in the journey was very enriching. I thank my Creator for giving me this opportunity and appreciate all my companions and all that I have learnt.Eunice Muthui, Kenya
I was very happy and greatly motivated by the warm welcome I received on my arrival. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for this "Come and See" programme, which is truly wonderful and inspiring. I learnt that Jesus is the only Master: Way, Truth and Life; and what it means to us as Christians especially for the Daughters of St. Paul. The classes are interesting, educative and motivating. I learnt about the Teachings of the Church and this helped me in deepening my Christian faith. I came to know more about the charism, spirituality and the apostolate of the Daughters of St. Paul. In the community, the sisters are very welcoming and ever ready to teach and correct whenever one needs help. I thank God for the improvement I felt in my life. It has been a truly wonderful experience to be with my sisters during this period of the "come and see" programme. Elizabeth Mutindi, Kenya
My experience during the "Come and See" programme has been wonderful. I have learnt many new things, particularly in the apostolate, which I love very much. I enjoyed and learnt much in my interaction with my group, coming from Kenya and South Sudan; as well as with the sisters in the community. The Group Dynamics conducted by Sr. Anna, the Sister who accompanies us in our journey, has been very helpful. Our sharing of experiences, feelings, helped us all. During my personal talk with her, I came to learn how much God loves me. I thank the Lord for this programme which is very enriching.Florence Lanyero, Uganda
From the time we started the "Come and See" programme, I felt my life had changed. At the beginning, I found it difficult and challenging. The Group Dynamics helped me a lot, and in our sharing I discovered who I am. Then, I started enjoying the company of the group and the work we do. In the printing department, I learnt how to fold the signatures, gathering the pages, checking and stitching them. In the audio visual department, I learnt to put the labels of the CDs and DVDs and seal them. I admire the relationships of the sisters in the community, their lifestyle, and their prayer life. They helped me very much. Regarding the dishes, it was challenging for me, because they were new to me, but now, I have adjusted myself to all this. I really admire and desire to be among the Daughters of St. Paul and carry out the apostolate of Social Communication. Irene Katela Mwandikwa , Kenya
I am happy to be a part of the "Come and See" programme where I experienced joy together with my companions. I love the prayer life of the Daughters of St. Paul. I am grateful to the Lord for the prayer life of the community which has changed my own way of praying,. In the apostolate: in printing department, I learnt how to fold signatures, gather, stitch and cut with the cutting machine. In the audiovisual department, I learnt to prepare the CD and DVD cases, and put the labels. I also learnt to do the duplication of the CDs and DVDs in the computer. I am happy for the foods some of which are new to me but I enjoyed them and thank God for letting know some other kinds of food. To be with the group gave me the chance to learn different cultures and tribes and from different countries. The prayer life and the joys the sisters in the community and doing their apostolate attracted me more. Jentrix Nasirumbi, Kenya
I thank God for this opportunity to join the "Come and See" programme of the Daughters of St. Paul. It is a great joy to be with my companions who came from: Malawi, South Sudan and Uganda, and even from other parts of my own country, Kenya. Our classes, like Pauline Mission, Good Manners, Pauline Prayers, and vocation in the Bible, are very inspiring, educative and motivating. I was touched by the story of the foundation of the Daughters of St. Paul, when Blessed James Alberione got the inspiration of starting this organisation during his prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, to use the most modern means of communication, so as to counteract evil with good. I thank the Lord for leading me to the Congregation of the Daughters of St. Paul because I believe he has a plan for me. Daily prayers, Mass, and Hour of Adoration helped me to deepen my relationship with God and with my companions. In the apostolate, I learnt to put the labels of CDs and DVDs, and in the printing department, I learnt to check and prepare books.Lydia Nafula Barasa, Kenya
I am happy to join the "Come and See" programme of the Daughters of St. Paul. During this short period of time, I have felt the joy within me to be with companions who have come from different countries and with different characters, which helped me to grow. Sharing vocational stories was also very helpful. I enjoyed our lessons especially, in Good Manners. This helped me much to improve my behaviour. In the apostolate, I learnt how to print, and how to prepare the books. Last but not least is, the ways of cooking various dishes which I learnt. I am hoping to learn and experience more.Spilia Niwamanya , Uganda
