This book is prepared to assist an inquirer who wants to take first steps towards the study of the Bible. (The work is essentially a revised and enlarged edition of Katekisimu ya Biblia (Bible Cathechism) printed in 2003 by Peramiho Printing Press.)
It is a beginner’s handbook and, as such, it does not claim to climb and reach high knowledge of the Bible. It is presented in ten lessons divided into three stages.
The first stage is “The structure of the Bible.” This offers basic information on what the Bible is and the layout of the O.T. books and the N.T. books. It concludes with a lesson which shows the relationship between the O.T. and the N.T.
The second stage is about “the environment of the Bible”. It deals first with places of some key events narrated in the Bible. Then comes a study of important institutions which are mentioned in the Bible, and finally, matters of culture lived during Biblical times. These first two stages are informative in nature about the Bible.
The third stage, titled, “The message of the Bible” is intended to bring the formative aspect of the Bible to the beginner. In fact, the first two stages are geared towards the third stage without which the study of the Bible is meaningless. The whole booklet is thus organised in 200 clearly indicated paragraphs.
