The Project of The African Bible was born after many years of reflection, sharing and study.
Two main issues were addressed:
1. to offer a good, up-to-date, Catholic translation of the biblical text, as a way of highlighting the centrality of the Word of God;
2. to provide the biblical text with an inculturated critical apparatus as the means through which the people could better understand the Word of God and feel it as a Word addressed to them today, in their culture.
